Happy New Year 2018: New Videos

Hello, dear lovelies!  It’s the start of another year and I have two new videos for you.  It’s been a pretty dark holiday for me (not in a good way), but since the death of my mother in 2012 the holidays have lost their festive edge.  I did celebrate Krampusnacht, which was fun, but once Halloween ends I lose interest in the holidays.  It’s sad, but I have accepted this fact in my life right now.

This first video is a look back of all the birthstone outfits that I wore this year:

Unfortunately, the cold weather and the holiday season can bring on depression.  It’s a time where I can’t help but think of loss: my mother, friends who I thought were true, flaky family members who have no interest in family, and so on.  I’m already dealing with clinical depression and the holidays tend to exacerbate it.

I was able to alleviate my sadness somewhat, with “playing dress-up”.  I found that it’s never too old to play dress-up, especially in moments of sadness:

That’s it for now, lovelies.  I’ve started drawing again and hopefully, I can keep up with this.  I’m also working to improve my videos with a new setup and new lighting. Stay tuned for some artwork this year and for more fashion!

Goth Fashion for December: Tanzanite

Tanzanite pic via Photobucket.  Tanzanite info via Crystal Vaults.

Hello, SoulFlowers!  This outfit is inspired by December’s birthstone, Tanzanite.  I was invited by friends to participate in Krampusnacht (“Krampus Night”), where the horned figure, Krampus, smacks naughty children with sticks and steals their candy!  We went to Krampusnacht DC, where money is raised for Santa’s Cause DC, a project of Family Matters Of Greater Washington.

I love the deep blue color of Tanzanite.  However, December has 2 other birthstones: Turquoise and Zircon.  Of these 3 gemstones, tanzanite is the newest one, discovered and named in 1967 on the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

While tanzanite ranges in color from lilac blue to deep violet-blue, in its raw form it can be also be found in brown, yellow, and sometimes green.  In its faceted form (in blue), it was given the name Gemstone Of The 20th Century, named and promoted by Tiffany & Co. in New York City.  Tanzanite is pretty rare and therefore, quite costly and highly valued.

TITLES: The Gem Of Positivity

COLORS: Lilac blue, sapphire blue, and deep blue-violet

CHAKRAS: Throat (5), Third Eye (6), Crown (7)

ZODIAC SIGN:  Sagittarius (November 23 – December 21)

SYMBOLIZES: Patience, Loyalty, Calmness, Faithfulness, Wisdom, Spirituality

Well, lovelies…this is the last birthstone post for 2017.  I’m not sure if I’ll continue the birthstone series, but I do like posting these.  I think birthstones are a nice way to add color to your gothic wardrobe.  There will be a few more posts soon, so stay tuned.

Peace, love and darkness,

Dasia Denise

Goth Fashion for November: Citrine

Citrine image via Photobucket.  Citrine info via Crystal Vaults.

Hello, lovelies!  We just celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday here in the U.S., which I celebrated with friends.  My outfit and makeup are inspired by November’s birthstone, Citrine. The name “citrine” comes from the French word for yellow, citron.  Natural citrine is very rare, therefore most citrines on the market are man-made.  Citrine is a newer birthstone for November; the traditional birthstone is Topaz.

TITLES: The Merchant’s Stone

COLORS: Pale yellow, golden yellow, yellow-green, orange, honey, light brown

CHAKRAS: Sacral (2), Solar Plexus (3)

ZODIAC SIGN:  Scorpio (October 24 – November 22)

SYMBOLIZES: Mental clarity, Emotional harmony, Positivity, Wealth, Prosperity, Success

As usual, my outfit was all-black but you can see the fall colors in my makeup.  I went with gold and bronze eyeshadow and burgundy eyebrows.  The look is completed with bronze glitter and black beads in my hair.

That’s it, lovelies.  I haven’t been out of the house in awhile, so it was nice to go out for a nice evening.  The air was cool and crisp, with the scent of autumn in the air: fireplaces, smoke, and food cooking! Stay tuned for next month’s (and the final) birthstone for December.

Peace, love & darkness,

Dasia Denise

Goth Fashion for October: Opal

Opal image via Photobucket.  Opal info via Crystal Vaults.

Hello, lovely Soulflowers!  This is another outfit post honoring October’s birthstone, Opal.  I went for drinks with friends, so I kept my look pretty casual.  I also wore my glasses – didn’t want to fuss around with contact lenses.  All of the action happens above the neck.  Lol.

Opals are hardened silica gel and contain 5 to 20% water.  Because of its many colors and energies, opals represent several elements and used for all seven chakras.  Opals come in all colors imaginable.

TITLES: The Eye Stone, The Stone of Inspiration and Change

COLORS: Various including rainbow, blue, black, yellow, orange, red, green, brown, and colorless

CHAKRAS: All of them, leading up to the Crown (7) chakra

ZODIAC SIGN:  Libra (September 24 – October 23)

SYMBOLIZES: Love, Passion, Desire, Eroticism

ELEMENTS: Air, Earth, Fire, and Water

Even though opals are “rainbow gems”, paired with black the colors really pop.  Wearing the ornate opal pin in my headscarf makes me feel like a queen, and the pin was only $20.  Not a bad price to look like royalty.

Peace, love & darkness,

Dasia Denise

Back From The Ashes: July, August & September

Gemstone pics via Photobucket.  Gemstone info via Crystal Vaults.

Hello again, dear lovelies.  This is Part 2 of my birthstone outfits.  This post covers my birthstone outfits from July to September.  Bright red, lime green, and deep blue – all great colors to add to a gothic wardrobe.  Whether it’s your hair, shoes, or accessories, adding color to either of these attributes will pop against an all-black outfit.

JULY – Ruby

This video starts off with me talking about the layoff from my job, but it is also an OOTD video.  Ruby is an obvious favorite since it matches my hair color.  My outfit is towards the end of the video, starting at 05:11.

TITLE: The Stone of Nobility

COLORS: Colorless, light pink, pink, red, and crimson

CHAKRA: Root (1)

ZODIAC SIGN:  Cancer (June 22 – July 22)

SYMBOLIZES: Passion, Protection, Prosperity, The Sun

AUGUST – Peridot

Lime green and black are perfect for gothic fashion.  The black horns and lace complete the outfit.  Peridot is only one of two gemstones formed from molten rock, not from the Earth’s crust.  The other gemstone formed from molten rock is the Diamond.

TITLES: Gem Of The Sun, Evening Emerald, True Topaz

COLORS: Yellow, yellow-green, olive green, lime green

CHAKRA: Heart (4)

ZODIAC SIGN:  Leo (July 23 – August 22)

SYMBOLIZES: Passion, Vitality, The Sun

SEPTEMBER – Sapphire

I’m wearing blue lipstick again.  I was inspired by sapphires – how could I not wear blue lipstick?  The outfit’s pretty basic: just a t-shirt, sparkly belt, and black pantaloons.  Sapphires also represent royalty and divinity.

TITLE: The Stone of Wisdom

COLORS: Black, green, orange, pink, white, yellow, violet, and various shades of blue

CHAKRAS: Throat (5), Third Eye (6)

ZODIAC SIGN:  Virgo (August 23 – September 23)

SYMBOLIZES: Power, Strength, Kindness, Wisdom

Well, that’s it.  We’re now back on track with the birthstone outfits.  It’s a good thing too, since we’re now in October – just 2 more months until the end of the year.  Stay tuned for October’s outfit, inspired by its birthstone, Opal.

Peace, love, and darkness,

Dasia Denise

Back From The Ashes: April, May & June

Birthstone pics via Photobucket.  Birthstone info via Crystal Vaults and American Gem Society®.

Hello, lovelies!  It’s been SIX MONTHS (gasp!) since my last blog post.  Since starting my YouTube channel, I’ve been busy creating videos and unfortunately, I’ve had little time to focus on my blog.  I was also laid-off from my job in June, so my mental state has gone through ups and downs.  But no worries – I’m back and ready to rock!

Since my main way of communicating is through video, this blog will be a landing page for my channel.  Even though I haven’t posted anything here since March, I have been making videos every week.  So, for the next few weeks, we’re going to play catch-up.  Stay tuned for new videos, as well as some older videos that I have not posted here.

This post will feature the monthly birthstone looks that have not been posted here.  Here are the OOTD videos and information for the birthstones of April, May, and June.  Yikes!  I’ve got a lot of catching up to do.

APRIL – Diamond

This look was inspired by April’s birthstone, Diamond. You can’t go wrong with all-black and gothic bling!  Diamond is the hardest gemstone and is known as the “King of Gems” (the “Queen of Gems” is Pearl).

TITLES: The King of Gems, The Stone of Invincibility

COLORS: Colorless, white, black, yellow, pink, brown, blue, green, and red

CHAKRA: Crown (7)

ZODIAC SIGN:  Aries (March 21 – April 19)

SYMBOLIZES: Purity, Innocence, Love, Fidelity, Strength

MAY – Emerald

This look was inspired by May’s birthstone, Emerald. Green is one of my favorite colors in goth fashion, with so many shades to choose from.  Lime green is another favorite of mine.

TITLE: The Stone of Successful Love

COLORS: Shades of yellow-green, green, and blue-green

CHAKRA: Heart (4)

ZODIAC SIGN:  Taurus (April 21 – May 21)

SYMBOLIZES: Spring, Renewal, Growth, Youth, Hope

JUNE – Pearl

As the temperatures rose, it was time to step out in summer goth fashion. I’m wearing black pearls and black roses – birthstone and flower for the month of June.  It’s also the first time in many years that I decided to sport blue lipstick.  Pearls are the oldest, known gemstone and are the only birthstones made by living creatures.

TITLE: The Queen of Gems

COLORS: Various colors including white, pink, cream, brown, green, blue, black, and iridescent

CHAKRA: Sacral (2)

ZODIAC SIGN:  Gemini (May 22 – June 21)

SYMBOLIZES: Purity, Innocence, Truth, The Moon

That’s it for today, my lovelies.  There have been so many changes since I last posted, with YouTube, Photobucket, etc.  Basically, sites are slamming down the gauntlet, making it much more difficult to use photos and monetize videos.  The good news is that I LOVE making videos and blogging, so I have no choice but to adapt to the changes.  We’ll see what happens.

Peace, love, and darkness,

Dasia Denise

Goth Fashion for March: Aquamarine

Aquamarine image via Photobucket.  Aquamarine info via Crystals and Jewelry and Crystal Vaults.

Hello, lovelies!  My apologies for the late post.  It’s still March so it’s technically not late, but my video was posted 2 weeks ago.  Eek!  A week before the first day of Spring (March 20), we got a little bit of snow, and I just had to wear an all-black outfit.   I love the look of all -black on fresh, white snow.  It highlighted not only my black outfit, but the icy-blue bindis, which sparkled against the white, snowy background.

This look is inspired by Aquamarine, birthstone for March.  Aquamarine comes from the Latin words, aqua marina, meaning “water of the sea”. Since ice and snow are forms of water, the cold weather was fitting for this gemstone. Not only does aquamarine symbolize courage and fortitude, but it is also represents cleanliness, calmness, truth and letting go.

TITLE: The Stone of Courage

COLORS: Light blue to bluish-green

CHAKRA: Throat (5)

ZODIAC SIGN:  Pisces (February 20 – March 20)

SYMBOLIZES: Courage, Fortitude, Inner Peace

Here’s what I wore.  It was COLD, but I braved the frigid weather to show off my winter outfit: a hooded, cropped sweater, simple black skirt, and tall black boots.  Everything (except the boots and sweater) were purchased on Ebay.

Cropped sweater: Cryoflesh, 20-eye boots: Doc Martens (brand)

I don’t own anything in aquamarine, except for bindis.  The rest of my eye makeup is highlighted in silver.  The red lipstick brightens my face.

That’s it, lovelies.  I’m still in transition with this blog.  I’m thinking this blog will be more of a supplement to my YouTube channel, so expect the focus to switch to videos.  I’m not much of a writer, but I can definitely show my face.  Stay tuned.

Love & Shimmies,

Dasia Denise

Goth Fashion for February: Amethyst

Amethyst image via Photobucket.  Amethyst info via Crystals and Jewelry.

Hello, lovelies!  First, let me just start off with the temperature for the day: 69° F (20.6° C).  Wow!  It felt like Spring, so decided to take advantage of the weather and wear my purple, floral headpiece for this month’s birthstone, Amethyst. Luckily for me, I own amethyst jewelry, which I also wore.  Amethyst is my birthstone and thus, my favorite birthstone.

TITLE: The Sobriety Stone

ALTERNATE NAMES: Sobriety Stone, Cape Amethyst (alternative name for light amethyst)

COLORS: Pale red-violet to deep violet

CHAKRAS: Third Eye (6) and Crown (7)

ZODIAC SIGN:  Aquarius (January 21 – February 19)

SYMBOLIZES: Spirituality, Metaphysics, Meditation and Sobriety

Here’s what I wore.  A simple, straight skirt with a simple, long cardigan.  I think that the burnout-lace shirt looks nice with the amethyst jewelry and purple flowers.  Clothing was purchased on Amazon and Ebay.

Floral crown: Miss Wild Flowers (Etsy), Amethyst ring: Bethesda Flea Market, Seed bead necklace: World Market, Raw amethyst necklace: Habit Jewelry (Etsy)

I went with a full face of makeup: black and purple eyeshadow with purple lipstick.  Black and purple are my favorite colors to wear together.

Next week will be another birthday for me.  I don’t know what I’ll be doing, but I do know that I’ll be meeting a Facebook friend in person.  There’s nothing like meeting a cool person that you’ve talked to online.  Can’t wait!

Love & Shimmies,

Dasia Denise

Gothic Fashion for January: Garnet

Above photo via Photobucket.  Garnet info via Crystals And Jewelry.

Hello, fellow darklings!  Today’s look is inspired by January’s birthstone, Garnet. While garnets come in a range of colors, my favorite color (and the most popular)  for garnets is blood red.  What goth doesn’t love blood red?  The color itself is beautiful, but when it’s paired with black, it can give a look a bit of mystery.  “Garnet” is believed to come from the Latin word granate, which means “seed”, like the seeds of a pomegranate.

TITLE: The Stone of Health

ALTERNATE NAMES: Arizona Ruby, Carbuncle, Cinnamon Stone

COLORS: All except blue, including colorless and multi-colored

CHAKRAS: Root (1) and Heart (4)

ZODIAC SIGN:  Capricorn (December 22 – January 20)

SYMBOLIZES: Regeneration, Vitality, and Order

Here’s what I wore.  Everything is long, flowing, and lacy.  Very comfortable and very feminine.  I purchased all of my clothing on Amazon.

Here’s my face.  Again, I went simple with the makeup but I did go a bit heavier on the eyeliner.  Of course, the garnet-colored bindi completes my face:

Close-ups of my accessories. Blood vial teardrop necklace purchased from Vampfangs.

That’s it for now.  I’ll be making changes to my blog and blog posts this year. For instance, I’ll still create blog posts on birthstones, but I’m taking a break from the birth flowers this year.  The information on birthstones have also been condensed.  If you wish to see more information, you can check out the birthstone posts from 2015 and 2016.  Of course, you can also click the link to Crystals and Jewelry (under the title pic) for more in-depth info.
