Tuesday's Makeup – Siouxsie Eyes

Siouxsie Sioux photos via Photobucket.

I wanted to try something new with my face.  I saw this picture on one of my favorite Tumblrs, The Witch and the Wardrobe (if you click on the picture link, you’ll see it’s from a different Tumblr).   Unfortunately, I couldn’t add the photo to my post.  Crazy daggone artists and their copyrights!  Oh well, no biggie.  You can click the link or just look at the one and only, whom I’m sure the photo was inspired from:

In all of my years as a goth, I have never worn my eye makeup like Siouxsie Sioux.  I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off.  Plus, it seemed like it would take a long time to do.

But I had some extra time yesterday morning, so I decided to give it a try.  Besides, if I’m going to try my hand at makeup artistry, I need to experiment with different styles.  So, here’s how it turned out:

I think I did a pretty good job.  One thing I would change is my eyebrows. I think I could have shaded them in a bit more, making them blend in more with the black eyeshadow.  I could also use a bit more black eyeshadow along the crease of my eyelids.

Here’s what I wore.  Just jeans, boots, and a lace shirt.  Not spectacular, but definitely old school:

So, I would say that my Siouxsie eyes went pretty well.  I will definitely do this again and probably switch it up a bit in the near future.

Happy World Goth Day!

This is a quick post, wishing all of you dark lovelies a Happy World Goth Day.  This day kind of snuck up on me, but I was accidentally prepared.  I’ll be attending an art exhibit later with my bff, Z.  There will be a longer post tomorrow.

So, until then…

OOTD – New Sneakers For Tuesday

Here is a mix of tribal goth and whatever goth.  Who knows?  This is why a lot of goths just say to hell with these categories.  Either way, it’s a beautiful, sunny day – a perfect day to break in my new platform sneakers, which I bought last year (!).

Sneakers: Jeffrey Campbell,  Jeans & Shirt: Express,  Skull pendant: online thrift store

Here’s my face and jewelry for today.  Not too blingy.  I guess today’s theme is bones:

OOTD – Tribal Goth For Monday

Hello, all!  Today is the first good Monday I’ve had in I don’t know how many years.  My work schedule has changed from the dreaded earlier morning to a more doable (and late) morning, 11 am to 7 pm. I also started ATS classes this past Saturday, so I’m actually in a good mood today!

Since I’ve started ATS, I was in the mood for a tribal goth outfit today:

Heart & Crossbones shirt: Marshall’s,  Basic long sleeve shirt: The Gap,  Hip Belt: Ebay,  25-yard skirt: Ebay

Here’s today’s face.  Dark eyelids and a single bindi:

That’s all for now.  I have started taking ATS (American Tribal Style®) belly dance classes and I’m so excited!  I will do a post on my ATS adventures soon.

OOTD – White Dress For Tuesday

It got pretty toasty here in the DC metro area, yesterday.  It went up to 90° Fahrenheit (32° Celsius), so I wanted to wear something light and easy.

I received a lot of compliments on my dress.  There was nothing special about the dress, but this is what usually happens when I wear white.  That, or people ask me, “what’s wrong?”.  It always tickles me how I can throw people off, simply by not wearing black.

Anyhoo, where’s what I wore yesterday.  I finally found thigh-high socks that stay up and doesn’t make my thighs look like muffin-tops:

I bought this little summer dress in Costa Rica, while attending a dance retreat.

Thigh-high socks: Sock Dreams, Boots: Steve Madden

And here’s how I wore my face.  I’ve been pleased with myself for turning up the volume on the makeup.  It’s been a bit on the conservative side.  My awesome friend, Matt, had suggested that I line and darken my eyebrows more.  He said that would make my eyes pop, and he was right:

OOTD – Corporate Goth for Tuesday (sort of)

It’s not really Corporate Goth, but for me it is.  Long skirt + black blazer = corporate.  This is as corporate as I get while still being myself:

Velvet blazer: H&M, Burned out lace top: Ebay, Long skirt: Ebay

Striped socks: Sock Dreams, Boots: Steve Madden

Skull necklace: Kreepsville 666

As you can see, I don’t have much to say today.  A few pics, a few words.  That’s it for now.

OOTD – Trad Goth For Monday

Here’s my basic outfit for today.  I don’t know if it’s my age or what, but since I’m working to simplify my life, my wardrobe’s getting progressively more basic.  I have no issues with this.  Using the 80/20 Rule (the Pareto Principle), most people wear 20% of their clothing 80% of the time.  I think this includes me.  Besides, one of the things I like about the gothic lifestyle is that you can keep it simple or dress it up to your heart’s content.

Here’s my face for today.  I’m a big fan of the cut crease to accentuate my eyes.  I’ve never seen a cat-eye style not work for anyone’s face.  It’s like the little black dress for your eyes:

Leather jacket and handcuff necklace: both second-hand from Z, my BFF

OOTD – Four Eyes for Thursday

Happy Thursday, lovelies!  I decided to wear my glasses today.  Unfortunately, these are real, prescription eyeglasses – I don’t wear these just for fashion.  I just wasn’t in the mood for contacts today, and since I’m wearing glasses my makeup is pretty basic:

I could really use a bindi – a third eye. Just a bit boring today. Oh, well.

Here’s what I’m wearing today:

Beaded necklace & leather collar: Ebay, Brain pendant: Heart & Skulls (Etsy), Long T-shirt: Ebay, Cardigan: The Limited, Leggings: Carousel Ink (Etsy), Boots: Clarks

Dasia Denise

OOTD – Ruffled Skirt & Egyptian Rosary

Happy Hump Day!  Here’s what my face looks like today.  I cranked up the eyeliner and it looks a lot better:

I’m not a fan of crucifixes, so I opted for something better: A rosary-style necklace with an ankh and the Eye of Horus.

And here’s what I’m wearing:

Long T-shirt: Ebay, 25-yard skirt: Ebay, Winklepickers: Underground Shoes, Rosary-style necklace: iMosh

OOTD – Friday Night Dinner & Face Bling

Hello, my pretties!  I ordered two maang tikka from Etsy a couple of weeks ago.  As you can tell, I love face bling!  I wore a tikka once during my first solo dance performance, which was NOT big enough!  Here’s my face – new and improved with a larger tikka:

Here’s what I wore.  Again, loose and comfy:

Cardigan: Target, Long dress: Dharma Trading Co., Shoes: Clarks
