OOTD: Gothic Fashion for Heat & Humidity

image

It was like an oven outside this week.  On Monday, the temperature reached a scorching 100° F (38° C), with 61% humidity.  That’s a heat index of 129° F (54° C).  Yikes!  Needless to say, I wore nothing special on Monday.    The video will show Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s looks; Thursday’s look was for July’s birth flower, Larkspur.  Switching from weekend to workweek mode, I almost never look my best on Mondays.  Mondays tend to be my “day off” from fashion.

DAY ONE

Temperature: 94° F (34° C)

Humidity: 65%

Heat Index: 114° F (45° C)

Here is Tuesday’s outfit.  Just a simple black dress with a large, black sunhat.  I wore three lightweight necklaces and my tabi boots, which are made out of cotton (the soles are rubber).  All of the items I wore were purchased on Amazon, Ebay, and other random, online stores.

Along with my lightweight jewelry, I wore minimal, cat-eye makeup and tinted lips:

DAY TWO

Temperature: 94° F (34° C)

Humidity: 51%

Heat Index: 103° F (39° C)

This is what I wore on Wednesday.  Instead of the sunhat, I decided on keeping cool with a parasol.  Again, I wore a simple dress (I call this one my “goddess” dress) and only one necklace.  I consider the necklace a statement piece, so no other necklaces were needed.

Again, I kept my makeup simple but added fake lashes to give my eyes some “oomph”.  Dark, purple lipstick and a head scarf completes the look.

That’s it lovelies.  Whew!  It’s the last day of July.  One more month of summer and then it’s back to business for me (I took a break from some things this summer).  Just FYI, the OOTD video only shows 2 of the 3 outfits that I wore this week; the outfit for Larkspur has its own video.

Does it get humid where you live?  How do you survive?  Please share in the comments.

  1. I love the “goddess” dress! And the purple lipstick is fabulous. 🙂

I lived for many years in Georgia, where it’s viciously hot and humid. I barely survived. 😛 It was too humid for evaporation, so putting something cold right next to my skin was the best way to stay cool. I’d carry around a frozen bottle of water, and I had one of those bead-filled neck scarves that stay cold for a while after you freeze them. For club nights, I’d put cold packs down the front and back of my corset.

    1. Ooh! I have never heard of those scarves before. That sounds absolutely brilliant! And Georgia? Yikes – I know how humid it gets down in the South. I went to school in Atlanta and I think ya’ll may have worse humidity than we do. 😀
