Here is October’s birth flower, Marigold. Marigold [genus: Tagetes], the color of fall foliage and pumpkins, was first discovered by the Portuguese in Central America during the 16th century. The Portuguese then introduced marigolds to Europe and India.
During ancient times, the Aztecs believed that marigolds held magical properties and were used to “cure hiccups and anyone injured by being struck by lightning”. These flowers were given to sailors to help protect them from lightning and other dangers of sea travel. In Mexico, marigolds are used to represent All Saints Day. They are also heavily used for ceremonial purposes in the Hindu religion and are widely popular in India today. Marigolds often represent sorrow and sympathy and has a hidden message of “My thoughts are with you”.

Here’s my makeup. Nothing elaborate, since I was wearing my glasses:
Two more days until Halloween. Yippee! Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, so we can really let our hair down and enjoy the festivities. I can’t wait!
