OOTD & Makeup for Summer Solstice

Hello, my pretties.  Today is the official first day of Summer.  It is also Father’s Day here in the US, so be sure to honor the fathers and other father-figures in your lives.  Show them just how much you love and appreciate them!

Here’s what I wore to work on Friday.  If there’s ever a time to wear white, it would definitely be Summer.  It gets humid here in Maryland, so my outfit is minimal.  Not much layering is done during the dog days of Summer.  When it’s hot, I make full use of adornments, mainly bindis and temporary tattoos:

White dress: bought in Costa Rica, 25-yd. black skirt: Ebay, Boots: Steve Madden (brand)

Black leather cuff: aosLeather (Etsy), Silver & onyx slave bracelet: Old New Blue Things (Etsy), Metallic tattoos: Jewel Tats

Here’s Friday’s makeup.  Again, not much makeup.  I prefer just eyeliner and lipstick.  It’s simply too hot for full eye makeup.  It can be done of course, but it’s not every comfortable.  Summer is the season for minimalism:

That’s all for now.  I’ve mentioned this in a previous post – I’m addicted to these metallic tattoos!  They were made for summer festivals, so they are perfect accessories for hot weather.  How do you stay fashionable and gothic during the summer?  Feel free to share in the comments.

Love & Shimmies,

Dasia Denise

  1. I love the bindi in this post, it just has a special feel to it. I feel a bit silly for asking, but are bindis something that you can use over and over again or do they come off and that’s it?

As for how do I stay fashionable in summer, well, I live in Australia. My tips are wear natural fabrics (so that you don’t get that sweat caught everywhere damp feeling! It doesn’t matter how much deodorant you wear, you will get caught even going from one building to another) and no fuss up hairstyles. Up and off or your skin goes crazy, but if the humidity builds you’ll end up with lots of frizz. I love messy buns with fun accessories that time of year and there are some great bat and coffin ones out there.

    1. Ooh, Australia – so, you definitely know heat! Lol. And no, that is NOT a silly question at all: Bindis are re-useable. If they lose their stickiness, you can always just use eyelash glue. For my heavier, more fancy bindis, I use spirit gum. 😉
