OOTD & MOTD for April’s Birthstone: Diamond

This look is inspired by the most popular gemstone, Diamond.  Arguably the most expensive, diamonds are not as rare as was previously thought (sapphires and rubies are more rare).  The diamond was known as the “King of Gems” in antiquity, when diamonds were as rare as rubies.  Due to the mining and commercialization of diamonds in the modern era, the “King of Gems” title has been given to the ruby, July’s birthstone.

Although not as rare as sapphires and rubies, diamonds are still expensive and symbolize wealth, accumulation, and abundance.  Due to its rarity and beauty, the diamond also symbolizes purity and innocence, as well as “strength in character, ethics, and faithfulness to oneself and others”.  Diamonds are the hardest natural substances on Earth and are used for many things we use today, such as drill bits and laboratory instruments.  Due to their ability to conduct heat and electricity, diamonds are also used to coat microchips and other items.

This was one of my favorite looks.  Who can resist diamonds (fake or real) set against black?  I hope you enjoy my modeling “skills” (ha!) in the OOTD video. Until next time…

Love & Shimmies,

Dasia Denise
