I’m switching things up a bit for this monthly post. After a humid weekend, this week felt like Spring again. Not wanting to “waste” perfect weather, I’m posting the birth flower post first. It really doesn’t matter, but I wanted to wear my new fringe jacket before it gets too hot.
So here we go with June’s birth flower, Rose. Most people think of red roses when roses are mentioned, but we all know that roses come in different colors. Each color has its own symbolism attached to it (see “COLORS” below).
Roses are millions of years old and have been cultivated for centuries. It is believed that roses were “first cultivated around the Caspian Sea or Gulf of Persia”. The oldest rose fossil was found in North America (Colorado) about 35 million years ago. For the ancient Greeks and Romans, roses represented love and passion. Roses are also connected with the goddesses Aphrodite (Greek), Isis (Egyptian), and Venus (Roman).

Here’s what I wore. I won an Ebay auction (woot!) and scored the blue fringe jacket for 30 bucks! Great purchase, considering that these jackets easily go for $100 or more. Since the weather was more Spring-like yesterday, I decided to wear my new jacket which has velvet roses on it. Nothing screams “boho” like a fringe jacket. I’m also pleased that I found a jacket in royal blue, my favorite shade of blue:
Here’s yesterday’s face. No eyeshadow – just mascara, eyeliner, and lashes for my eyes:
The weather we’ve been experiencing has been schizophrenic, to say the least. After Spring-like weather, it’s supposed to be hot and humid again this weekend. Stay tuned for posts on June’s birthstone and belly dance. I’ve included an OOTD video below, featuring another ATS® dance move.
