Hello, lovelies!  This outfit is inspired by one of June’s birthstones, Moonstone. Last year, the focus was on June’s more popular birthstone, Pearl.  The third birthstone for June is Alexandrite.  Moonstone is my favorite out of the three, so that birthstone will be the focus of this post.

Moonstones have been around almost as long as the moon itself.  It was used as a talisman, to protect the wearer during travel, particularly at nighttime. Moonstones have always been connected to the moon, nighttime, and mystery.  Moonstones have been used in jewelry for nearly 2,000 years in Rome and in the Orient.  Yellow moonstones are considered sacred in India.  The most prized and valuable moonstones come from Sri Lanka.

Here’s what I wore.  A couple of months ago, I purchased a gray lace dress and I loved how it fit – so naturally, I had to purchase the same one in black.  It’s gothic, lightweight and perfect for summer!

I’m actually wearing this dress backwards, but it still works. Two dresses for the price of one! – Lace dress and leggings: Amazon, Winklepickers: Underground Shoes

Moonstone pendant and leather cuff: Ebay, Onyx beaded necklace: String of Jewels (Etsy)

It’s summer, so that means light makeup until it gets cool again.  I added a “tribal” mark on my lips, just for a bit of flair:

That’s all until next time.  I hope you liked my outfit of the day.  I must say that this was one of my favorite looks and in my humble opinion, there’s nothing more gothic than black lace and winklepickers! What clothing do you wear to feel extra gothic?  Please share in the comments.

Love & Shimmies,

Dasia Denise
