Get Ready With Me: Halloween 2017

Hello, lovelies!  Halloween fell on a Tuesday, so it was a quiet affair this year.  I went out with friends for drinks and Chinese food, so I decided to dress up instead of wearing a costume.  Money’s tight and I didn’t want to shell out money for a costume this year.  But it was all good!  A big party is not necessary to celebrate my favorite holiday.

This is my first Get Ready With Me (GRWM) video.  It’s very quick, so it’s not a tutorial.  You’ll see me apply my makeup in under 2 minutes (ha!) and then you’ll see what I wore for Halloween.

Here is the list of makeup that I used.  As usual for Halloween, my makeup was dark and heavy.  I also wore green contact lenses which are subtle, but they give me just a slight change in eye color.  I tend to favor subtlety instead of the spooky, bright contacts – not that there’s anything wrong with that. (*wink*)

OOTW: Gothic Hats & Vintage Pins

Hello, lovelies!  I’m back with another Outfits of the Week post.  In this post I’m sharing what I wore during the week of Halloween, which was on a Monday this year.  I’m just now posting this video since I’ve been a bit depressed, lately.  But I promise you I will, slowly but surely, get back to my normal posting schedule.

DAY ONE

Here’s what I wore on Halloween.  It’s not exactly a costume, but the nice thing about being a goth is that I can wear my normal clothes and still look spooky.  After all, every day is Halloween for us goths!  All I did was add a large, witch’s hat and I was all set for the holiday.

Here’s my makeup for Halloween.  I wore all-black makeup, including black lipstick.  While the green contacts I wore are subtle, they really do show up nicely when surrounded by black eye makeup:

DAY TWO

This is the first time I’ve worn my new top hat.  I used to wear top hats about 20 years ago, and I’m happy to be able to wear hats again.  It took a little adjusting to (I kept crashing into low-hanging branches), but it was fun to wear.  I felt like Stevie Nicks in this outfit!

20-eye boots: Doc Martens (brand)

Day Two’s makeup was pretty subtle: just lipstick, eyeliner, and false eyelashes.  I wore a small bindi under the corner of each eye for a little dazzle:

DAY THREE

Day Three had the simplest outfit: a long dress, arm warmers, and ankle boots.  I wore a pin in my scarf and further accessorized this outfit with an onyx ring and cabochon necklace:

Here’s Day Three’s makeup.  It’s pretty much my usual with glitter added to my eyelids.  The glitter doesn’t show up well in these pictures, but it does accentuate my eyes:

This month has been depressing, to say the least.  I am working on more content, but I’m also taking things one day at a time.  We’re already in mid-November, so I will try to have November’s birthstone and birth flower posts out soon.   Stay tuned.

Halloween 2015 – Part 2: The Party

HLLWN15.4-me.Carly

Here we are with Part 2 of the Halloween festivities.  Both my sweetheart and I lost our mothers to cancer in 2012 and after a few years of not being in a social mood, we decided that we were ready to have a party.  Halloween was on a Saturday this year – a perfect night for a party.

My sweetheart was Tina Turner, and I was His Purple Highness, Prince.  I wanted to practice doing drag makeup on my sweetie but unfortunately, we ran out of time (and he ran out of patience).  So I did the best that I could.  Despite my lack of drag makeup skills, Ms. Turner was the hit of the party!

Here’s our Halloween costumes.  My pieces were purchased on Amazon and Ebay.  I also could’ve went darker with the “facial hair”, but I didn’t want to mess it up and make it look like dirt.

For my sweetie’s costume, I went to online stores that sold clothing and shoes for crossdressers, since he’s a pretty big guy:

It was a great party!  Fun and low-key, having a great time with great people. Everyone loved seeing a large, 6′ 2″ (6′ 7″ in heels) Tina Turner with a deep voice! There was even a jam session since my sweetie and his friends are musicians.

This was one of the best Halloweens I’ve had in a long time.  It was nice to be together with friends and family after 3 years of not entertaining.  I compiled a short video that includes my sweetheart walking in heels and a live jam session.

Halloween 2015 – Part 1: Devil’s Night

DVL15.12-title_crow

Hello, lovelies!  This past week has been super busy with Halloween and preparing for my dance duet tomorrow for Raq Out.  Since Halloween fell on a Saturday this year, I decided to wear a costume for Devil’s Night (also called Mischief Night), which occurs on the day before Halloween on October 30.

I saw these badass Maleficent horns on Ebay and decided to take a chance, hoping they would fit and they did.  Woo hoo!  Here’s what I wore to work last Friday, with a short clip of my outfit:

Here’s my face.  I took advantage of the holiday and wore black lipstick to work, along with green eye shadow:

Well, that’s it.  Stay tuned for Part 2, the actual Halloween holiday.  I’ve included a second video, below my signature.  You can actually see my face and hear my voice at the same time (My voice – ACK!).  TTFN (Ta Ta For Now)!
