OOTD & Makeup – Sans Lipstick

I hope all of you had a fun and happy holiday!  I decided to try an experiment at the last minute – no lipstick.  After I finished my eye makeup, I felt that my usual dark lipstick might be overkill (not that there’s such a thing in the goth world!).  But I kind of like having bold eyes with bare lips.

First things first, here’s what I wore yesterday:

Turtleneck: secondhand, Skirt: Ebay, Pentagram rosary: Blood & Stars Jewellery (Etsy)

Extra long, scrunchy socks: Sock Dreams, Boots: Steve Madden (brand)

Here’s what my face looked like.  I kind of like the bold eye, naked lip look but my lips feel a bit too naked.  I hate lip gloss (like the look, hate the feel), so I may have to experiment with some sort of lip tint – barely there, one step from natural.

I think I will do this again tomorrow.  I’ve been testing simple looks that’s gothic, but also looks that doesn’t take all day to apply.  What do you think of the bold eye, naked lip look?  Feel free to share in the comments.

OOTD & Makeup – Happy Winter Solstice!

Today is Winter Solstice, which marks the longest night of the year.  It is also the first day of Winter, so I decided to experiment with blue eye-makeup.  Nothing says “wintery night” to me than dark blue, black and silver.  The silver sparkles could mimic stars.  Plus, it’s the holidays!

Of course, since I don’t work on the weekends (yay!) I wore this to work on Friday.  Here’s what I wore:

Oriental black duster and blue velvet skirt: Ebay, Long-sleeve shirt: Gap, Boots: Fit Flop (brand)

Here’s what I wore on my face.  Although I wear colorful makeup for my dance performances, I was a bit apprehensive wearing colorful makeup outside of dance.  Can I pull this look off?  I think I can, so I decided to experiment:

Black rhinestone & crystal hair clip: Endless Flowers (Etsy), Small black flowers: CVS, Silver spike earring: Opulent Oddities (Etsy)

I wasn’t going to wear my false eyelashes, but my eyes lacked the oomph that I needed. (Fake lashes on the left; natural lashes on the right.)

I like how it turned out.  I’ve been pretty conservative with my makeup lately and it has been such a snooze-fest.  I’m looking forward to trying out more colors in the near future.

OOTD – Back In Black

I’m still alive.  Where the heck have I been?

My last post was in August and that’s also when some unnecessary drama slithered its way into my life.  My emotional state hasn’t been the greatest and when I don’t feel good, I don’t look good.  My blog has also taken a hit, since I wasn’t ready to face the world.

But such is life.  Lessons have been learned, I’ve dusted myself off and now I’m ready to get back into the swing of things.  So, I’m back in black and here’s what I wore yesterday:

Lightweight cardigan: Amazon, Long shirt: Ebay, 25-yd. skirt: Bellydance.com, Boots: Fit Flop (brand)

Yesterday’s face and jewelry:

Leather choker: aosLeather (Etsy), Pentagram rosary: Blood & Stars Jewellery (Etsy)

OOTD & Light Makeup for Summer

While Summer officially started on June 21, the weather is now starting to heat up and the humidity is creeping in.  So, you’ll see very minimal makeup and not much layering.  Basically, summer is the season for “gothic-lite”.

We’ll start with my outfit today, since my makeup is almost non-existent.  Once again, I’m wearing my 25-yard skirt with a t-shirt.  I need to get another one of these skirts, since I wear it almost every week.  It’s just perfect for layering, and also to wear alone when it’s hot (like today).  And how can I not feel like a dancer, wearing this ruffly, full skirt?

T-shirt, skirt and jewelry: Ebay, Moccasins: Minnetonka

Here’s my face for today.  Be prepared to see me in almost no make-up.  I forgot my eyeliner at home today (oops), so I had to make do with just good ol’ mascara.  I’ll probably skip the eyeshadow until the humidity dies down in the fall, because eyeshadow + skin-melting humidity = not cute.  At all.

My face looks so boring today, but oh well.  Let’s hope I remember the eyeliner tomorrow, ’cause I need something else on my face besides face bling.
